DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN - DVD.
Starring Vincent Price.
OVERVIEW: Dr. Phibes, an interesting character in horror film fiction, that Im glad came around for a second outing, and hes as ruthless as ever. No longer content with merely avenging his wifes death, but now wants her back in the flesh. Phibes and his mute assistant, Vulnavia, set off for Egypt, meting out bizarrely elaborate deaths--everything from clockwork snakes to a particularly severe exfoliation treatment--to all who stand in their way. Dr. Phibes Rises Again with dark wit and creative art direction, that just adds to the mix, much like the first film. I dare say if anyone else had played the part other than Vincent Price, it would have been a very different feel. With his elaborate organ playing with a delicately cocked eyebrow, he guides thru this hallway of horrors that he presents to us. A worthy successor to the classic original. Not sure if a third movie would have ever been made, or if it would even have been a good idear.. but I would have been in line to see it. -- Dave. 1972 MGM DVD. Featuring: Anamorphic, Closed-captioned, Color, DVD, Widescreen, NTSC. Language: French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono). Spanish and French subtitles. List Price: $19.98.
