OVERVIEW: Because we specialize in Stephen King books and items we were made aware of a small cache of this gold-foil embossed edition of The Bachman Books by a book close-out company (these are NOT remaindered) and was sent a sample copy to review. When we received the sample copy I was so impressed, elated even, I immediately picked up the rest of the stock.
This is a hardcover bound copy of the 1996 trade paperback release, complete with the front and back jacket copy bound with the rest of the book. This is a gorgeous volume! Front and back panels are gold-foil embossed with titles and a bat-like border on a burgundy-red cloth-bound binding. The spine is also gold-foil embossed with titles and bat-like artwork featured at the top and bottom of the spine.
To my knowledge there isn't a hardcover version of the 1996 edition of The Bachman Books except for a book-of-the-month club edition.
A unique item and one that will obviously become very collectible instantly. The close-out house told us this was part of a pallet they received from a library binding company of an order of various books that was never collected or paid for. I can only assume this was produced for libraries as this is very common for them to have trade paperbacks re-bound for heavily checked out titles. However the ornamentation is quite exquisite and we're fortunate to receive these.
We are having a slipcased produced with artwork on the spine, the artwork is featured below with a line of skulls. This edition is deserving, once you see it you will agree.
I have done some research and I cannot find any other copies of this, from collector's or any listings. If you have any information on this hardcover edition of the 1996 Bachman Books please get in touch, we would be curioius to know more about the origins of this binding.
